Dear Adelyn and Delaney,
You are SIX MONTHS or Half of a Year old!!!It's crazy. Most of the time (haha) I feel like it has flown by in the blink of an eye. I still, vividly, remember being 9 months pregnant with you... and now you've been out here in the real world for 6 months. Pretty soon I'll be writing about your first steps. Your first day of preschool. Your first boyfriend. Oh wait, you aren't allowed to date- ever- so I guess I'm getting ahead of myself. ;)
You have doctor's appointments coming up on the 27th so I'm not sure of your sizes right now. I'd guess 14-15 pounds! :) Collectively, you're great babies. We thank God for good babies because we could have it much worse with three under 2, that's for sure! You're starting to be a little fussier these days but we're pretty sure teething is upon us. What fun. We're still working on getting sleep back to where it used to be but we'll get there. You generally take 3-4 naps a day still. Sometimes I can get you back to sleep after you wake up one nap so that you'll take one "long" nap (1.5 hours), otherwise they're all 30-45 minutes in length. Because you aren't napping well, evenings have been especially crabby lately because you are so tired. But we just remind ourselves that this too shall pass and keep trying to work on those sleep habits in the meantime.
Adelyn, you are finally a roller! I think you are a lot like your brother. You wait until you are SURE you can do something before going for it. You rolled a little later than your sister but when you started we couldn't stop you. You also recently learned to enjoy the jumperoo and learned how to blow raspberries with your tongue sticking out. You light up when people talk to you and smile at you. I predict that you are going to be a "thinker" and will do very well in school. I think that you will enjoy reading, figuring out how things work and individual activities such as track. I know it's a long way off but I can already see the wheels turning in your head when you "work" on something. You are laid back and content most of the time.
Delaney, you are so active! You bounce non-stop, even when you aren't in the jumper. You make whoever is holding you have sore arms. :) You see something you want across the floor, bed, etc. and you make sure to get it. You can scoot just about anywhere you want-- on your back. I have to move you quite often because you've managed to scoot yourself into a wall! You blow raspberries, with your top lip tucked in! So cute. You are a little more hesitant to give strangers smiles but it doesn't take you long at all before you realize that they're okay. I predict that you will be a social butterfly and enjoy things like cheerleading and dance. You are motivated and demanding and I think you will be a leader someday.
You both love your brother so much and giggle when he talks to you. It won't be long until you're chasing after him wanting him to play with you... I can already tell that you want to! You enjoy chew toys like Sophie the giraffe and the Winkle. You also like soft things like your taggie blankets and hippo rattle. Your favorite is mommy's finger or hand though. :)
We exclusively breastfed for your first 6 months!! I am so happy and proud to say that. I am heading back to work next week so we started you on oatmeal on your 6 month birthday in the evenings in hopes that it will help you sleep through the night. So far, it's helping some I think. We are also going to start supplementing your daycare bottles so you'll receive half breastmilk and half formula while you're at daycare with grandma. So far it hasn't been an issue as long as we make sure the bottles are very warm.
This next month we are moving into our very first home!! I'm so excited to decorate a nursery for you and give you a play room where you can keep your toys and learn lots as you grow. We have a yard to play in and the neighbors have young children too. We are so excited for the next chapter of our lives. :)
Sweet precious girls, you are the answer to our prayers. You've completed our family in a way that makes so much sense. You light up the room at 6 months old so I can only imagine how our family will continue to love you as you grow. We are so happy you are ours.
All my love, forever and ever...
Momma
