7 Months Old

Dear Delaney and Adelyn,

On September 6th you turned 7 months old! Please forgive me for the late- and probably shorter than usual- letter. It's not that month 6-7 was any less special, it's that mom went back to work and I have zero time for things like being on the computer! Luckily, we're in a bit more of a routine now so I think it's getting better. I'm going to write this as if I actually did it on time... because everyone knows that nearly 3 weeks later, you've completely changed already!

(You saw the doctor at the end of August and you were both right about 15 pounds. I'll have to dig up the paper for exact figures. I do plan to import pictures into these letters once we move... so I'll do it then. ;))

The transition to daycare and going back to work was tough on all of us. Some days you wouldn't nap much, some days you wouldn't finish your bottles. Luckily though, grandma is patient and helped us figure out how to make it easier on you both. Now you're pros! I miss you ladies SO STINKIN MUCH while I'm gone. I love when I come in the door and scoop you up and smooch your chubby cheeks. It's obvious that you missed me too and that makes me feel both sad and glad at the same time. I hate that I have to work but I'm glad that if I do you get to me with grandma.

At 7 months, Delaney, you are a scooter! You are often called scooter or inch-worm because you scoot backwards, on your back. You arch your back and look around- it's hilariously cute. You are sitting for brief periods of time if you're placed just right. You still love the jumper and Sophie the giraffe. Still no teeth, either! You are my little snuggle bug and I love the periods of time (however brief they may be) when you lay your head on my shoulder and cuddle with me. Those "baby" months went way too fast, you are ready to be on the go.

At 7 months, Adelyn, you are an observer! You can roll around to get what you want but sometimes get stuck on your belly and forget you know how to get off. You, too, can sit if placed just right. In fact, you might even be a little more steady, so long as you have something in your hands to keep you busy. You spend a lot of time just hanging out, watching what's going on around you. I think this trend is following you... soon you'll decide you know exactly how to do *insert skill here* and just take off. It's like you wait until you're sure you know what you're doing before attempting it. The doctor says you'll be getting teeth any day now! You are very content to be held, and I love it.

I can hardly believe that you are closer to one than you are to 'zero'... these last 7 months have FLOWN by. I can't wait to see you grow and learn and change... but I'm soaking up every single second of babyhood as well. I love you so much sweet girls. You are my dream come true.

Always and forever,
Love, Momma
