It's been a whole month since I've updated my blog, which can only mean one thing... I'm too busy loving on you! What an incredible month we've had. You amaze me every single day.
You're starting to develop quite the little personality these days. My favorite time of day with you is first thing in the morning. You wake up hungry, eat and get a clean diaper, then we usually head back to the bed to snuggle a bit. You spend the morning cooing and babbling and making cute faces. I love watching you and having conversations. You definitely have a preference for your momma most of the time, but I can't really blame you considering we're together 24/7! You let other people hold you, but not for too long. Your dad is an exception though... he takes over "diaper duty" when he gets home from work and you love it! I think it's because he sings and dances and makes up funny songs. You just look at him in amazement most of the time. You also have a period in the evening where you're usually pretty awake and happy. He loves this time as much as I love the mornings with you. Unfortunately, following it is your "witching hour" which starts right about 7:15pm each evening. You mostly just want to eat during this time, but you eat and scream, eat and scream. It's like nothing we do can satisfy you! Luckily though, it doesn't last too long and you are a very happy and content baby the rest of the day! You're also (finally!) sleeping longer stretches at night. Your first stretch is generally 5-6 hours, then you spend a little time awake and go back to sleep for 3-4 hours. It's a huge change from our getting up every 1.5-2 hours! THANKS! ;)
Developmentally, you're meeting all of your milestones (of course). Your head control is great... but it really has been since day 1. You are the only newborn I've ever seen to use your arms to push up and hold up your head. Silly baby. You also now give quite a few "social smiles." That's definitely the best part of my day- your smile warms my heart! You giggle every now and again and sometimes full out laugh in your sleep! We're still waiting for you to roll over... I know it's going to happen any day now!
This month was an eventful one for you. Your dad got a new job in Ohio so we had to go house hunting, pack up all of our belongings, and move! It was a tiring experience but you were such a trooper. You slept most of the time in the car and put up with all of our stops. Now we're close to your grandparents, aunts/uncles, and cousins. We'll be able to see them so much more often which will be great for you!
Halloween was also this month! We took a lot of adorable pictures of you. Some in your cute Halloween outfits, some at Lynd's Fruit Farm, and some INSIDE of a pumpkin! You weren't really sure what to think about it but you tolerated it. Someday you'll look at these pictures and laugh. :) For Halloween, we decided to dress you up as Elvis! I love all of your dark hair and sometimes you curl up your lip like "the king" so it was only appropriate! Plus, your grandpa who passed away in 2006 loved Elvis... he'd be excited to know you payed tribute to him. ;)
(Elvis pic to come... I'm missing my camera cord)
One more thing that amazes me about you is how much you LOVE bathtime! Even from day 1, you've never cried during bathtime. You love the warm water and getting your hair washed. You always reach your neck back, trying to get the water to run over your head. It's too cute.
We're looking forward to November, little man. Each and every day you change and grow and it's incredible to see it happen. I'm loving all of my one-on-one time with you (and dreading the inevitable return to work).
All my love,
Mom
