3 Months

Dear Adelyn and Delaney,

You are three months old! 1/4 of a year... already. You weigh a little under 12 pounds according to my bathroom scale! You've just about doubled your birth weight... growing girlies!

This past month has been my favorite yet. I really feel like we've gotten into a bit of a routine now and for the most part, things aren't nearly as intimidating as they were a month or so ago. The weather is nicer so we're able to get out and about pretty much daily which is great. You're nursing champs, sleeping champs, champs at making people fall in love with you. ;) Seriously though, we don't go ANYWHERE without being stopped so strangers can ogle over you. You are pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

These days you nurse every 3 hours beginning at 8am. You go to bed around 8:30pm and sleep until 4am. You wake up to eat, fall right back asleep and wake up again at 8 ready to face the day. You smile your bright smiles at me even at 4am. You are seriously the happiest babies I've ever met.

You're wearing a good mixture of 3 month, 3-6 month, and 6 month clothing now. I tried to put newborn pants on you over the weekend and laughed at how pathetic it was. I guess the tag that says "up to 7 pounds" really meant it. ;)

New this month is a greater sense of your surroundings. You love to be awake and sitting up so you can see what's going on around you. You love your brother (and he loves you!) and enjoy it when he talks to you. You very rarely cry! You have great neck strength when you're being held though when you're on your tummies you still pretty much just lay there. I'll take some of the blame for that though... it's hard to "force" tummy time when you so obviously hate it! You still sleep quite a bit during the day and prefer to nap in your swings, rock and plays, or someone's arms. You're not to keen on laying flat yet. You love your carseat toys, your pacifiers, your sister's hands/arm/shoulder/whatever is closest, and you love getting your diaper changed.

We took your first road trip the day before your turned 3 months and you were seriously amazing. You slept or were content the entire way there and we only had to stop once for a feeding. Same story while we were away and on the way home. I was so proud of you! I know this will all change in a couple of months when you're even more aware of your surroundings and not loving the car... but for now, it was a great trip.

You coo and babble quite often these days and I love it when it seems like you're talking to each other. I think about all of the fun sister things you'll get to do together and my heart is just giddy. I love that you'll always have each other to depend on.

You are very  much alike these days. At first you had distinct personalities and looks but now? Now, it's hard to tell you apart for most people! You are both VERY happy, content babies. I'm sure that your personalities will develop and change over time but for now I think the degree to which you are identical is quite humorous.

Well girlies, another month has flown by. Our love for you multiplies each day and we thank God for this amazing blessing every chance we get. Who would have known that something that was so terrifying back in July (finding out we had TWO babies on the way) could have turned into this beautiful, amazing gift. Two perfect daughters who bring joy to our lives every second of the day.
